Preschool and Primary Division
All New students (Pre-Ballet I and above) to Virginia Ballet School must take a placement class. Students are placed into levels based on knowledge, ability, and age. We enroll students in the Preschool and Primary Division on an 18-week semester basis. Please call to schedule a placement class to start the process of enrollment.
Pre-Ballet II, Beginning Ballet I-III, and Pre-Teen/Teen students are eligible to participate in Virginia Ballet Company’s annual production of The Nutcracker.

Minimum number of recommended classes and hours per week: 3.
2 Ballet, 1 Character Class, 1 Ballet & Tap Combo (elective).
Special Note: It is recommended that students, at a minimum, invest the above amount of time into their ballet studies per week, unless informed otherwise by the Director of the School, to keep up with the class and continue to improve in knowledge, body strength and ability to progress to the next level with their fellow classmates.

Students at the Preschool and Primary Division levels are allowed to take more than one class per week.
*Class schedules are subject to change. Virginia Ballet Company and School reserves the right to add, cancel or combine classes on the class schedule based on class enrollment
Fees & Tuition
- New students should pre-register through the website and will be contacted to schedule their FREE Placement class. We offer rolling admission throughout the entire year.
- Tuition rates vary with the number of hours of classes enrolled. Discounts are offered for active Military and siblings.
